Vivo pulls out of IPL 2020 Title sponsorship
The year 2020 has been the most terrible year for all of us. Apart from CVID-19, there also many tragedies that happened this year like border tensions between India and China this June. Amid border tensions between both countries, Chinese Mobile manufacturing company VIVO pulls out of title sponsorship of IPL 2020. As border tensions between both countries rise, Indians started a campaign to throw out Chinese products to show love for their nation.
VIVO’s IPL Contract:
VIVO India bagged the title sponsorship for IPL for the next five years in 2017. VIVO India purchases the Title sponsorship rights for 2199 crores. As we know that IPL is the global cricketing league as well as the most popular league in the world. But in this pandemic situation even if BCCI got 50% value replacement then it will be a great achievement. BCCI already stated that this year’s IPL will be held in UAE due to rising COVID-19 in India. UAE will host IPL 2020 in September but BCCI yet to announce the schedule of Indian Premier League.
In June 2020, due to the rising border tensions between India and China. The BCCI had already said that it would “review” the sponsorship for the IPL, but did not name any brand yet. “Taking note of the border skirmish that resulted in the martyrdom of our brave jawans, the IPL Governing Council has convened a meeting next week to review IPL’s various sponsorship deals,” BCCI posted this tweet on June 19.

The Chinese mobile company VIVO had replaced soft drinks and cold drinks manufacturing company PEPSI co back in 2016 to purchase the title rights of IPL. With the more brands involving in IPL, it becomes a more popular and bigger Cricket league year after year. The overwhelming crowd, quality of cricket and Craze around the world is the main reason behind the huge success of IPL. Before the start of IPL 2020, all eight franchises of IPL with all the supporting staff and involved in IPL have to go through the coronavirus test. Cricket without the crowd behind closed doors already began in few countries. And In the end it will be the great achievement of BCCI if they organize the tournament properly.
